Post of the Month - December

Here is our last POM for 2009. It is a good reminder of the value of GTC. Congratulations Marksman (Fire).

Trip Report A.C. 12/3 12/4 2009

Marksman - 03:13pm Dec 5, 2009 PT
GTC Grad, Post Of The Month 12/09

 What a great trip. After checking in I proceeded to a sparsely populated casino on the boardwalk. S.L. 1 was open. The dice quickly got to me.I tossed them 3 or 4 times and the pit boss asked if I had taken "that course". I told her I had read a couple of books. My first roll was only 7 or 8 before the dreaded 7 appeared, but the jitters were gone. With only 4 or 5 players the dice came back to me quickly. I can't give specific numbers as to the number of rolls because I forgot to bring my personal secretary with me to count. My second roll was about 12 or 14. In the evening I pulled off a monster roll. I held them for over a half an hour. HUGE ! I would love to post as part of the 30 or 40 roll club but I don't know how many rolls I had.
 I've been in the bar and restaurant business for a long time, so I am very aware of what generous tips can do for a guest. My frequent and generous piggyback tips on the line and on my odds quelled any heat from the house side of the table. Most of my rolls on Thur. and Friday felt pretty good. I had my share of point seven out rolls. My basic strategy of pass line - full odds - placing 6 and 8 worked well. After 3 hits of the 6 or 8 I placed the 5 and 9 if they weren't covered by the point. THE FIVE COUNT WORKS. More time than not the five count saved my ass and preserved my bankroll. It was hard not to have the action all the time and several times when temptation got the best of me I jumped on the 6 and 8 too early and quickly got burned by the 7. Lesson learned. The five count greatly increased my play time thus improving my rating time.
 If another player had his chips in my favorite landing zone I adjusted a few inches left or right. The dealers started calling me "Marksman". Is this too close of a moniker to Sharpshooter for me to change my call name to ?
In summary ;
1 - My bankroll was very healthy after 2 days of play.
2 - I will continue to practice daily.
3 - Dice control is real.
4 - The 5 count works.
5 - Be generous with your tips. It keeps the heat off.
6 - Find your concentration zone and stay in it.
