Craps Forum Post of the Month - December 2008

Frank has asked the GTC Interns to be in charge of the Post of the Month. We are starting with December since that is when we were appointed. Therefore, there will not be one for the month of November.

GordonM's posts on 12/15 for Come Line Betting" , and 12/24 for "Regarding Craps in General". They both elicited several responses and the discussions centered around GTC philosophy.

Posts of Distinction

RyanD's post on 12/4 for "3V". He posed an interesting question which started a nice debate, and I am certain benefitted both grads and newcomers to GTC. And, DavidM's post on 12/14 for "Thank You Dominator". DavidM was not happy to follow Dom's advice, but forced himself to do so, and wound up a very happy winner.

We are also giving an Honorable Mention to Section8 and NFF for the "12 Days of Xmas" for creativity and pure entertainment. This brought much joy to the end of a very turbulent year.

come line betting

GordonM - 08:29pm Dec 15, 2008 PT

For about a year now I have been betting a come/dont come offering on each roll that I use a come bet. My reasoning is that if I play a $10 come for instance and it is placed on the 10 and I hit it, I get paid only even money on the $10 come bet and odds on the odds bet. I figure why would I risk a $10 bet on a ten and have the casino keep $10 of my winnings?

I play about 120 times a year and in the past have gone between large wins and large loses, back and forth ,this year I can say that I am about even, not sure if that is good, but I had a lot of fun and it did not cost me much.

Question regarding craps in general

GordonM - 01:55pm Dec 24, 2008 PT

This may seem like a dumb question but i am dead serious. I have played this game for 30 years, and at 60 I have had some ups and downs with it like everyone else. My question is this, if you accept a couple of facts:

  1. You cant beat the game unless you can control your throw or play with some one thats does.
  2. If you bet on everyone at the table you will lose.

With those thoughts in mind, we only have two tables within a hour of me. So I go over and if I can't get my position at the table so I can't throw effectively you almost feel like what's the use and it takes some of the fun away from playing the game. certainly in vegas or AC we have more choices. What are your thoughts?

    merry xmas to all,

    gman
