Elsewhere on this page (http://www.goldentouchcraps.com/WorldChampionshipResults.shtml) you can read the full report about Frank Scoblete’s World Craps ChampionshipsTM which took place in Las Vegas on July 22 and 23, 2006.
It was an incredible event and the very first non-casino tournament ever held – in fact, it was 10 tournaments over two days that brought 167 players to Las Vegas for some great craps action.
Many email writers have requested a breakdown of how many of the winners were GTC students, in other words people who actually took the Golden Touch Dice Control course and how many were, for lack of better words, "off the street." This is not as easy as it sounds because some of the people who were "off the street" were excellent shooters. Nevertheless, we count them in this category.
Of the 40 skill prizes for tournament results 34 went to GTC students and 6 went to those who were "off the street." That’s 85 percent for students and 15 percent for none students. However for the total population of players at the tournament, 68 percent were students and 32 percent were not. So I guess even in such a short-run frame, the more skilled players has a better shot at winning than the less skilled players.
Naturally luck does play a factor in short-term results and the extraordinary showing of the GTC students just means that luck had some skillful help during the 10 tournaments.
In point of fact, our World Champion, Linda "Lowroller" Mabry took the dice control class several times so maybe that was a helpful factor in helping her defeat everyone else in the final tournament where she won The Captain’s Trophy.
