Rafter, Great Trip report, both parts were an excellent read. I enjoyed reading them and I am
sure everyone on GTC felt the same. These truly deserved "POST OF THE MONTH" recognition.
I have attached both report here so members do not have to go looking for them.
We also would like to award a "POST OF DISTINCTION" to SMC.
SMC is a new member on our site and he asked 3 great questions with his first few post's.
SMC thanks for being active on GTC and keep up asking those questions.

Trip report
Friday May9:
Arrived at Vegas on Friday morning about 10 AM
Things started out a little odd, when we checked into our room; everything seemed a little “off” somehow.
The wife and I realized the room was for someone with a wheel chair. Low shelves, folding seat in the shower. Smaller bath tub etc…We called down to see if we could switch rooms, no problem. The front desk apologized for the inconvenience of having to switch rooms.
I relaxed for a little bit after the drive to the desert before going to my favorite place to shoot. It was afternoon, when I saw the boxman mentioned in another post that gave somebody “heat” about extending their arm in front of the stick man. He said hi to me and asked me how I’d been since last trip, he mentioned to me there had been some “Dominators” there earlier that he had to warn. Already knowing that he doesn’t like that, I took a position at SL2 so there wouldn’t be any problems. I opened up with a pretty good roll of 15. I waited about 20 minutes for my next roll and took the dice again, this time I banged out a 28 roll. My chip rack was full after 2 rolls, and the boxman said “you did well, good rolling!” The wife and I decided to get some lunch and call it a session. (I’m trying really hard to get the wife to take the class, but she says she wants to remain a crazy crapper! That’s a story for another day…Grrrrrrr!)
We had our lunch and took in the sights around the town for the rest of the day. We had dinner and caught a show that night. After the show, we went to another casino known for having excellent tables, I shot a couple of times, but couldn’t get anything going so we left and called it a night.
Saturday May 10:
I arranged to meet DicePilot, 401G and his girlfriend for an early morning session. As DP mentioned in another post, it was interesting seeing all of the “wasted youth” at this hour. If they are our future, I’m scared of getting old! LOL!
Anyway, back to the report. DicePilot started out with a nice 27 roll. This day I could feel my throw was a little off. I just didn’t feel right and the dice didn’t look good. I didn’t have any real good rolls, but had a good 19. 401G’s girlfriend had a couple of good throws; her roll is a thing of beauty! Her dice were close together with the softest landing! I can see she works hard on her throw. 401G you both need to get into the class ASAP there is a lot of talent in this couple already, and they’ll be a huge force to be reckoned with! FYI, they are both SR people too. I have to personally thank Dom for giving me the coaching about how to play the bankroll. A couple of trips ago, I got slaughtered or as Jeff P so eloquently put it “I felt like a clubbed seal” Anyway with the advice you gave me Dom, a losing session didn’t hurt very much. Thank you! Thank you!
After the session we broke for lunch. I went to the room for a little nap while the wife was at the spa getting massage. I worked on my grip in the room and set up some pillows to throw into. I could see one of the dice was wobbling and not landing right. I made a quick adjustment to the grip and got both dice to land normally into the pillows I set up (the pillow tip is good because it gives immediate feedback as to what the dice are doing). We went for a nice lunch and went downtown for some shooting. On this trip, I wanted to make a point of checking out other places to shoot. I tend to get comfortable shooting at the same places but want to try other places and other conditions to try out my throw. I tried 3 casinos downtown and felt much better after making my corrections in the room. I had some descent rolls 9-14 and pretty much stayed even downtown, I think I was actually ahead $16.
This was a special weekend for me because I’ve been working hard at my throw since I took the class last October in LV and I can feel it starting to “happen.” I’ve played sports all of my life and it’s a really good feeling when things start to click. It’s just the beginning, but what a feeling. I was starting to feel that inner peace and confidence that all of the hard work is starting to pay off. (In my recent practices I have had 3 occasions when I have thrown in the 50’s and others in the 40’s. It’s a good feeling to know that I’m capable of that, it’s just a matter of time till it happens in the casino.)
I’m a relative newbie at craps as I haven’t been playing this game for years and years. Some of the people that I have spoken to say it’s a blessing in disguise that I hadn’t had much craps when I took the class because I was going into it with pretty much a clean slate.
That evening we caught another show, Tom Jones at the MGM, I guess he’s there for a couple of weeks. He put on a very entertaining show. Watching the show really took me back to my childhood, I remember watching the Tom Jones show on TV and hearing his songs on the radio.
I put out a call to GTCr’s in town after the show to see if anybody could meet up for a short session, unfortunately nobody was available. I shot 1 time made a little bit and called it a night. The tables were really crowded and I was tired. I couldn’t wait for Sunday because the rest of the crew would be in town!
Here is Post # II

Here's part II
Sunday May 11:
I contacted 401G and we met for a morning session. I’m finding that although I like to throw early 5:00 AM there are too many drunks still out from the night before. A better time seems to be about 7:00 AM, I guess that’s when the sun rises and the vampires go away. Maybe if I start wearing garlic around my neck, I can get them to go away a little earlier! (haha). We had some OK rolls, no real long rolls but I can’t remember any point seven outs either. I threw a couple of times and started getting hungry. My wife wanted to come over to the hotel for breakfast so we broke for the session. The boxman was asking where the rest of the crew was, I told him they were coming in later that afternoon. When I went to cash in my chips, a couple of guys come up to me and say “we noticed how you throw. You have a nice throw; we overheard you saying you had some more guys coming in. Are you guys shooting tonight and where?
I told him I didn’t know when and where we’d be shooting; he tried to give me his cell phone and asked me to call. I declined to take his number saying we may not even shoot, but just have dinner.
Well Da boys finally got into town. My wife and I met Dave Da Porker and his wife, SectionEight and his wife for a prime rib dinner downtown. One of the things I really enjoy is the people we meet on a regular basis as well as the new people I meet through GTC. It’s just great having dinner together talking about everything life has to offer
We were going to meet Mailman after dinner for some shooting.
After dinner, we went to the casino to shoot; I let the boys shoot. I know coming to Vegas is like Christmas morning, you can’t wait for it…I’d already had a couple of days under my belt. Mailman and Dave Da Porker had some great rolls, there was quite a bit of money to be made on their rolls. Dave shot in the 30’s and Mailman in the 20’s it was a great session. I almost doubled my buy-in when all was said and done.
After the session was over we went to a couple of other casino’s to check things out. One of the things I like about downtown is there are so many casinos within walking distance. When we went into one of the casinos, Mailman noticed something I would have never imagined: we were in this casino and he told me to feel the table surface. I rubbed my hand on it and didn’t notice anything, he then grabbed my hand and pressed it on the surface and I felt what he felt, it was shocking! At this particular casino in the landing area, the table surface was ribbed, like a washboard! You couldn’t see it by the way the felt was stretched but with a little pressure you could sure feel it. This ribbing was at the final 6-8 inches of the table on both ends.
I know where I won’t play again!
We tried one more casino to shoot, nothing to write about so we took our winnings and called it a night.
We agreed to meet at 7 am the following morning for a session before I left for home.
Monday, May 12:
We met Dave (Da Porker) and SectionEight at 7:00 AM for some shooting.
The only position open was SL2 and DaPorker took that spot. He opened up with a 30 roll and I was thinking to myself ‘let the good times roll.’ As soon as the gentleman as SL1 left I swooped in to take his place. The dice were passed and I got them. I opened up with a 17 roll hitting lots of 6 and 8. (Forgot to mention earlier I starting using the Skinny method of tipping. Boy was that a hit with the dealers!)
Dave (DaPorker) was next and had another good roll in the 20’s. The money was starting to flow…In between us shooting, the boxman was imitating us shooting, we were having a hoot with him, everybody laughing. The highlight was my wife at the end protecting the landing area. When it was her time to shoot, she did her imitation of us “MOUNTING” the table. Everybody just about fell over, the crew at this casino is the best!
The dice came back to me again and I rolled 27, lots of box numbers, not a lot of garbage. The boxman was commenting to me my throw looked a lot better than it was the previous day. In fact on one of the throws he said your dice were tilted on that throw, get it back level! WOW he’s cheering for me! I was feeling really good on this day.
After I sevened out, it was Dave (DaPorker’s) turn again and he threw a 37. What awesome back to back throws!
Cash was flowing the dealers were ecstatic at the tips and everybody was happy. Fortunately, the table wasn’t too crowded.
When Dave(Da Porker) sevened out, every body was clapping for us. The dice were passed to Dave (Da Porker) and I to shoot again.
I shot and did a point seven out. I could feel my energy level had dropped a couple of notches and decided it was time for me to stop. Dave (Da Porker) had a short roll too and decided to stop. SectionEight had a couple of rolls after us but couldn’t get anything going.
We cashed in and when all was said and done, we each had doubled our buy in.
It was time for me to go back home. It’s always hard to leave for home after spending time with my friends and having our adventures and successes at the tables. I am also always comforted of the notion that there are many more friends to meet, and many more memories, adventures and winnings to be had in the future
